Celebrating the Calgary Stampede Parade with Family and Friends.

In 1989, three friends Richard Seto, Nat Christie and Mike Shrimpton decided to attend the Stampede Parade.  They arrived very early that morning before 6:00 am to secure a spot on 10th Street SW. Being avid outdoorsmen, they naturally brought a little backpacking stove, made themselves a few pancakes some coffee and sipped a special drink.  Richard remembered the days when his dad, Fong Seto had the Dynasty Restaurant on 6th Ave and would set out the dining room chairs on the sidewalk. Fong would serve his friends and clients a Stampede breakfast and a Special Stampede Drink.

Before the next parade the three friends convinced a few more friends to come and hold down a few more spots especially for our other friends with young families.  Richard brought down an old outfitter stove he had when he used to run MAD RAFTERS with his cousin Tom Seto, to cook on.  Some pancake mix was made up, and a few packs of bacon were thrown on the grill and a fine Stampede breakfast was had by 30 or so Stampede Parade Friends.  In those days the benches were a few planks on a set of milk crates.

Over the next few years, the Party continued to get bigger and bigger and has evolved into the great party it is today.

There have been many friends who over the years have contributed selflessly to make this Party a success - the event is indebted to their continued help.

The Stampede Parade Friends Party has become an annual tradition as well for many families who attend this party.

*Please note, this is a private event. Guests invited by the hosts will be permitted to attend.*

This is an invite only event.

Remember we go rain or shine.  We can get everyone all 300 of you under our big umbrella and keep you relatively dry

We are so excited to have you all at our party. It’s been going on for over 30 years and we have developed a few rules that really help us in keeping things running smoothly.  When you first arrive you will need to check in and get a wristband.  Please find Nora Comerford-Seto,  Robin Somji or Kat Seto when you arrive at the parade. They will be standing by a REGISTRATION sign on the street close to our big stove.

Your wristband gets you food and drink. We would like to feed everyone but just can’t so we have kept it a private function

Be in the Stampede spirit, GET YOUR HEAD IN A COWBOY HAT, dress western and have fun!

  1.  Moms, Tots and Seniors have priority for bleacher seating. Then everyone else on a first come first serve seating basis

  2. You will be required to wear the provided wristband for the entire event. Please see the Registration for your wristband when you arrive. We’ve had over 550 guests in previous years and it really helps us with crowd control at the Grill and at the Bar

  3.  You will be required to “Ya Hoooooo” when prompted by Parade Officials.
